Hello everyone. Welcome back to another weekly edition of the SeriousXM newsletter. Honestly, this week has been very very light in terms of news coverage targeting SiriusXM.
So it’ll be kept light, somewhat to reflect the light coverage of the week. However, I’m still here, still delivering a weekly edition for you guys.
Time to get to this week’s news…
The Latest News
SXM now airs a new talk show with Netflix.
Variety reports that this week, SiriusXM has picked up a new talk show with Netflix… focusing on sex advice. In other words, not a show meant for children to listen to.
After Hours, hosted by E!’s Nightly Pop’s Zach Noe Towers, is being aired on Netflix is a Joke Radio (SXM 93). It started yesterday and will air biweekly on Thursdays at 9:00pm ET (6:00pm PT). The program is “a funny, sexy, one-hour radio show where no topic is too taboo and no story is too raw… as long as it gets a laugh.”
So expect a lot of dirty jokes and topics discussed in this program. Towers is a comedian and actor who hosts the program mentioned above and’s been featured in Seasons 1 and 2 of “Dating: No Filter“ and Season 3 of Netflix’s “Dear White People“.
Channel Changes
Very quietly noticed but it looks like Billboard’s Top 500 Summer Hits countdown is back for another summer run. A countdown of the Top 500 Summer Hits of all-time, according to Billboard.
The channel is back for a limited time on Channel 560.
Events
That’s it. No more news or channel changes. As I’ve said, its been really light. So we’re already off to this week’s upcoming events.
The Beatles Channel is celebrating Sir Paul’s 80th.
On Sunday, June 18th, Sir Paul McCartney celebrates his 80th birthday. This week, all week, The Beatles Channel (SXM 18) celebrates his birthday.
SiriusXM has a list of programs out there to celebrate him and his work. It got started on Monday and will continue throughout the weekend. For a full list of the programs and the schedule of those programs (all times Eastern), make sure you click here to find out.
25 years of Soca Gold.
Bob Marley’s Tuff Soca (Xtra online only) channel is celebrating 25 years of Soca Gold, the annual Caribbean compilation series from VP Records, the world’s leading Caribbean record label.
In honor of this milestone, Tuff Soca put together a new mix featuring songs from Soca Gold 2023 and previous releases, plus an exclusive live performance from the Soca Queen herself, Alison Hinds.
The special, Tuff Soca Takeover: 25 Years of Soca Gold, hosted by Sparkie Baby and recorded live at SiriusXM’s new Miami studios, is available now on the SXM App.
Sports
Yeah. Already into the sports part for the week. A little quieter now since the NBA Finals and the NHL Stanley Cup Finals are over (congrats are in order to the Denver Nuggets and the Vegas Golden Knights). Now its just the MLB and MLS regular seasons still in play with the NFL still in the offseason. So, here’s what else is happening this week.
🏈: NFL Father’s Day Special
This Sunday, June 18th, is Father’s Day. For all the football-loving dads out there, SiriusXM NFL Radio (SXM 88) has a special for you.
This special, hosted by Bill Lekas, will air tomorrow, Saturday, June 17th at 4:00pm ET (1:00pm PT) and then again on Father’s Day itself at 1:00 and 5:00pm ET (10:00am and 2:00pm PT).
Interviews include John Bosa, father of two NFL pass rushers, the San Francisco 49ers’ Nick Bosa, and L.A. Chargers’ Joey Bosa, and Steve Jordan, a former Minnesota Vikings tight end who’s the father to Cam Jordan, defensive end of the New Orleans Saints.
Also included is San Francisco 49ers running back, Christian McCaffrey, the son of former NFL wide receiver Ed McCaffrey.
⛳: The 123rd U.S. Open on SXM PGA Tour Radio.
This week, one of golf’s major tournaments is happening in the U.S. Open Championship, from the Los Angeles Country Club and SiriusXM is the national audio broadcaster for the tournament.
SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio (SXM 92) has all the coverage all this weekend until Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18th.
Today, tournament coverage will run from 12 Noon ET (9:00am PT) until the end of the day’s play. Same for tomorrow, Saturday, starting at 1:00pm ET (10:00am PT) and on Sunday, starting at 12 Noon ET (9:00am PT).
