Finally: More details on Team Coco Radio in a light edition this week.
Friday, November 11th, 2022
Hello to all and welcome to another edition of the SeriousXM newsletter, your home for the latest weekly news, notes, and happenings inside SiriusXM. As always, showcase your support and love for the newsletter by subscribing, sharing, and donating today.
Its a light week this week as not much news has come out… except for one particular piece of news we’ve been waiting months for, especially since the start of this newsletter. Let’s get to it.
The Latest News
Team Coco Radio is almost here!
Ever since this newsletter got started back in June, we’ve been waiting to find out when Conan O’Brien’s new SiriusXM radio channel would launch, ever since that deal between Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco and SiriusXM was agreed to earlier in the year. Now, we have that answer and I knew it would land on this spot.
Starting this upcoming Tuesday, November 15th, Team Coco Radio will launch on SiriusXM Channel 106, the channel spot that was formerly the home of Volume until it finally moved to a streaming-only channel back on September 1st (it simulcasted between 106 and an online-only channel for months though, where Volume is at now on Channel 780).
The channel will be executive produced by Conan O’Brien himself and will feature exclusive audio content plus select Team Coco podcasts, including Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend. It will also have interviews and stand-up moments from Conan’s time at NBC and TBS, commentary, behind-the-scenes stories, original programs, events, and much more.
The channel will be available nationwide on traditional car plans plus the SiriusXM app.
New Channel
Eminem’s music, 24/7, on a new streaming-only channel.
First, let’s get this out of the way: For a limited time in this scenario will mean the next five-and-a-half months. That’s a long time for that reason, but there’s a good reason too.
SiriusXM is giving Eminem a second channel of his own that’ll last until April 2023 on streaming plans only called The Marshall Mathers Station.
And hey, just in time for him to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame from last week’s induction ceremony (more on that in a bit), the new channel will feature Eminem’s entire music catalog, 24/7. Its music that’s him and only him.
It will have his greatest hits from his albums, recent new music, deep-cuts, and lesser-known B-sides plus music from his iconic movies like 8 Mile and Southpaw.
His main channel is Shade 45 (SXM 45) which has been around since its XM(!) days in 2004.
And speaking of the induction ceremony, SXM will air the ceremony that features Eminem next week on November 19th at 8:00pm ET (5:00pm PT) on Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Radio (SXM 310). We’ll remind you in next week’s newsletter as well.
Quick note…
I wanna throw out a note very quickly that Selena Gomez Radio is no longer on Channel 14, however, its still heard on online plans via the SXM app until December 2nd.
Taking its place is Jolly Christmas, which is home to Upbeat Feel Good Holiday Hits. While it has been streaming on SXM 608 since the beginning of the month, it officially takes over Channel 14 today, one of SXM’s in-car limited edition channels, and it will remain there plus streaming of course, until Tuesday, December 27th.
Events
Time to get to the latest events; entertainment and sports-wise; coming up across SXM. First, this week’s Hallmark Channel Radio (SXM 105) event.
Erin Cahill’s Countdown to Christmas Countdown. Erin Cahill stops by for her first Countdown to Christmas countdown with some of her favorite songs and takes you behind the scenes of her Christmas-themed movie, Christmas Bedtime Stories.
Today, Friday, November 11th at 12:00 Noon ET (9:00am PT).
Tomorrow, Saturday, November 12th at 8:00am ET (5:00am PT).
Monday, November 14th at 8:00pm ET (5:00pm PT).
Now, on to the rest of this week’s upcoming events…
Bruce Springsteen’s Album Release on SiriusXM.
E Street Radio (SXM 20), Bruce Springsteen’s very own channel, is celebrating the release of his new album, Only The Strong Survive.
Starting today, Friday, November 11th, and right through next week, his exclusive SXM channel will have music from his new album plus original versions of each song. Also, a special titled The Soul of Springsteen will debut that’ll feature those original versions, followed by Bruce’s version.
This all comes as Mr. Springsteen made his first-ever appearance on The Howard Stern Show on Halloween, October 31st, 2022. While the full interview and live performances are not available as one video, they have been released into a playlist that you can check out here on YouTube.
The album is out today and its his 21st album, but his first covers LP album since the 2006 album We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions.
Drake is rescheduling and adding his Apollo Theater shows.
Bad news first: Tonight’s Drake concert at the Apollo Theater has been moved.
Good news now: The concert is now getting a double bill.
Tonight’s previously-scheduled Drake concert at the legendary Apollo Theater in New York City has been moved, but it has been given a second date too. Now, it will take place on Tuesday, December 6th, and Wednesday, December 7th.
This is a part of SiriusXM’s Small Stage Series concerts and will mark the first time he performs at the iconic theater. Expect live coverage by then on his own SXM channel, Sound 42 (SXM 42).
Sports
Time for sports. Its actually pretty light this week with no big attention-grabbing sporting events this week, since the MLB, MLS, and NASCAR seasons are all done. Plus, you also got NBA, NHL, College Football, College Basketball, and Premier League seasons that are still ongoing with way too many matches to mention every week.
However, I do wanna mention at least four sporting events taking place this weekend.
⚽: The USL Championship Final on SiriusXM.
In the lower-level soccer league behind the MLS comes the USLC: United Soccer League Championship, which is one of the divisions of USL: United Soccer League. This week, its the final game of the season when Louisville City F.C. goes against San Antonio F.C.
Louisville is going for its third title while San Antonio is looking to cement itself with a national title after winning the regular season title.
SiriusXM F.C. (SXM 157) will have it all on Sunday, November 13th at 8:30pm ET (5:30pm PT).
🏈: NFL Weekly Guide to Week 10.
Its week 10 of the current season already and Matthew Keys of The Desk provides you with this week’s list. However, there’s one I do wanna call out in particular.
There’ll be another NFL International Series game this week and for the first time, it will be in Germany… Munich, Germany to be exact. The Seattle Seahawks will play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from Allianz Arena in Munich. The game will start at 9:30am ET (6:30am PT) and can be heard on the following…
National: SXM 229 or Online 964 - One of the NFL Play-by-Play channels.
Seahawks Hometown Broadcast via 710 KIRO Seattle/97.3 KIRO-FM Tacoma: SXM 380 or Online 828.
Buccaneers Hometown Broadcast via 97.9 WXTB Clearwater/Tampa: SXM 228 or Online 829.
⛳: Houston… we got Golf this weekend.
The PGA Tour season is in full swing and its in Houston this weekend for the Cadence Bank Houston Open from the Memorial Park Golf Course.
SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio (SXM 92) will have all the coverage live from Houston all weekend long.
Today, Friday, November 11th, starting at 10:00am ET (7:00am PT).
Tomorrow, Saturday, November 12th, and Sunday, November 13th, starting at 11:00am ET (8:00am PT).
🏁: Formula One racing in Brazil.
The current Formula One season is almost over. SiriusXM will still take you there and its in Brazil this week for the Brazil Grand Prix from the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in São Paulo.
First, qualifying will be later Today, Friday, November 11th at 1:55pm ET (10:55am PT) on one of SXM’s Sports Play-by-Play channels, SXM 203 or Online 966.
Then coverage will move to ESPN Xtra on SXM 81 for the Sprint tomorrow, Saturday, November 12th at 2:30pm ET (11:30am PT) and for the race itself on Sunday, November 13th at 1:00pm ET (10:00am PT).
