The Latest News
Coco is getting his own SXM comedy channel. No surprise here.
We all knew it would happen when SiriusXM acquired Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco podcast/production company, and now we’re that much closer to where his new channel will land.
But at a recent conference, SXM announced this week that a new Team Coco channel WILL launch later this year and that CEO Jennifer Witz said that the new channel is part of a broader strategy to add even more content to its various products, including SXM nonetheless, to try to attract a younger audience to its digital platforms. In other words, come on young people! You should listen to satellite radio!
We told you months ago that SXM acquired Team Coco in the first-ever news edition of our newsletter. While the deal was evaluated but never revealed, the Wall Street Journal is putting it at around $150 million. Witz affirmed that Conan has agreed to curate, produce, and launch the channel later in the year.
Programs will include his flagship podcast Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, the many other podcasts within that network, and plenty others, including possible program archives from his many years at late-night television.
Its expected to be available on satellite and streaming services, but unclear as to which packages will receive the channel, or where the channel will land on the lineup. As soon as we know where it lands, we’ll let you know in the newsletter.
H/T to Matthew Keys’ The Desk for the story.
John Legend gets his own ‘Small Stage Series’ concert.
This week, another big name was added to SiriusXM’s Small Stage Series concerts… John Legend.
The invitation-only concert for SXM subscribers will be played at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, Calif. on Wednesday, September 28th. This concert will feature his biggest hits plus new music from his upcoming album, LEGEND, which is scheduled to be released today (as of the newsletter release date).
John Legend in a statement said…
“I’m so excited to perform music from my new album, LEGEND, for SiriusXM’s Small Stage Series. I’ve been looking forward to performing these songs live and can’t wait to share a special night of music with friends and fans at the El Rey in Los Angeles.”
If you are an SXM subscriber, will be near L.A. on September 28th, and are such a fan of John Legend, then this concert is for you. Act quickly because a big name like his is certain to draw a huge crowd. Click here for more information.
However, if you can’t make it, don’t fret. His concert will be replayed multiple times on two SiriusXM channels next month…
Wednesday, October 5th
6:00 and 9:00 p.m. ET (3:00 and 6:00 p.m. PT) on The Pulse (Channel 5).
8:00 and 11:00 p.m. ET (5:00 and 8:00 p.m. PT) on Heart and Soul (Channel 48).
It will also be available on the SXM app and select songs will air on multiple SXM music channels, including SiriusXM Hits 1 (Channel 2), The Heat (Channel 46), SiriusXM FLY (Channel 47; XL), Pandora NOW (Channel 3; XL), and The ‘10s Spot (Channel 11).
Octane has a new host. Meet Jesea Lee.
Octane has just welcomed a new host. Meet Jesea Lee.
He’s a popular TikToker and the host of The Jesea Lee Show podcast. He’s trying to find what’s new and trending in the world of punk, metal, rock, emo, and all things alternative.
He’ll be on every weekend night from 9:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m. ET (6:00-9:00 p.m. PT) plus host Octane Breakdowns on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Welcome aboard, Jesea!
A minor name change for a current online-only channel.
SiriusXM has looked like it was changing its lineup again, however, its still the same as last week’s. So what was the difference this time?
Well, after printing out the lineup and checking each channel one by one, I learned that Attitude Franco is now known as Les Tubes Franco. The name was inspired by another similarly named channel, Les Tubes 80-90, which plays French pop and rock hits from the 80s and 90s on Channel 756.
Les Tubes Franco plays top French Canadian hits, including some of the biggest ones from the past 50 years from all different kinds of genres. Now under the new name Les Tubes Franco, you can still hear the same format as Attitude Franco on Channel 759 but is only available on streaming plans, a.k.a. online-only.
The Week’s Events
Yep. Time once again to find out what’s available on SXM for you to listen to this upcoming week. But is it a surprise that its more music and sports events? I mean, they happen all the time so no big deal. Here’s what you need to know.
Small Stage Series Concerts!
We don’t have just one, but two big concerts to tell you about this week! And both are playing at the exact same theater: the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York City.
First up, its Pearl Jam. They’re playing there tomorrow, Saturday, September 10th, for the very first time at that theater and it marks their first U.S. stop on the band’s current fall tour.
It will air exclusively, of course, on Pearl Jam Radio (Channel 22) on September 10th. The live pre-show will go on at 8:00 p.m. ET (5:00 p.m. PT), followed by the concert itself at 9:00 p.m. ET (6:00 p.m. PT). There’ll also be a special Faithful Forum program on Sunday, September 11th at 4:00 p.m. ET (1:00 p.m. PT).
Not only that, there’ll be concert replays at the following times…
Sunday, September 11th at 5:00 p.m. ET (2:00 p.m. PT).
Monday, September 12th at 11:00 a.m. ET (8:00 a.m. PT).
Tuesday, September 13th at 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. ET (9:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. PT).
Wednesday, September 14th at 7:00 a.m. ET (4:00 a.m. PT).
Thursday, September 15th at 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. ET (6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. PT).

Saturday, September 17th at 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. ET (5:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. PT).
Sunday, September 18th at 2:00 p.m. ET (11:00 a.m. PT).
Two more notes… One, they’ll be broadcasting bootlegs of their North American tour stops for the rest of this month and into next month with shows premiering at 6:00 p.m. ET (3:00 p.m. PT) and replaying at 9:00 p.m. ET (6:00 p.m. PT).
Two and finally, they’re releasing archival content for a limited time on the SXM app starting on Tuesday, September 13th. Content includes The Eddie Vedder Show, Jeff Ament’s Rock Hall Radio show, Stone Gossard’s dream Pearl Jam Setlist, a Road Crew round table, the top three Pearl Jam concerts of all time as chosen by listeners last year, and so much more.
Okay, enough about them because the Red Hot Chill Peppers will also be performing a Small Stage Series concert from the same Apollo Theater on Tuesday, September 13th that will air on their own channel as well, Whole Lotta Red Hot (Channel 305), with rebroadcasts more likely scheduled throughout the rest of the week.
Ozzy’s Back! He’s got another new album being released.
Ozzy Osbourne is back with a new album, Patient Number 9. Of course, you can listen to it on his own channel, Ozzy’s Boneyard (Channel 38). You’ll be hearing Ozzy, Zakk Wylde, and Andrew Watt talk to host Billy Morrison about the new album in a special called Ozzy Speaks. They’ll also play those new songs and answer some questions from SXM subscribers.
It premiered earlier this morning but will have tons of repeats over the next week.
