A new auto rights deal, loads of sporting events, new concerts, music contest winners, and more.
Friday, July 15th, 2022.
Hey there! Welcome back to the SeriousXM Newsletter. There was no #TBT edition yesterday as I’m currently putting that on hold, at least for now, due to trying to find more new lineups, plus sounders and videos of the service from back in the day. It won’t be too long before it returns so stay tuned.
Before I get to this week’s news… please donate to help support my work today!
The Latest News
SiriusXM + Mitsubishi = Together until 2028.
This week, SiriusXM and Mitsubishi Motors came together to agree to an extension of their long-time relationship that will see SiriusXM come pre-installed in new cars until 2028.
Owners and lessees will continue to receive a trial for three months to SiriusXM’s Platinum Plan (basically, all the channels) with the purchase or lease of any new, certified pre-owned, and eligible pre-owned SiriusXM-equipped Mitsubishi vehicle.
I won’t bore you with quotes from their executives. These are just the important details you need to know about this extension. And, of course, pretty much every car brand in America has an agreement with SiriusXM to provide their services on equipped vehicles.
SiriusXM Canada’s Music Town winners!
Yesterday, after weeks of voting and rallying, SiriusXM Canada announced the inaugural winners of the SiriusXM Music Town contest.
The 2022 Music Towns will be…
Eastern Canada - Miramichi, New Brunswick will receive Arkells
Quebec - Blanc-Sablon, Quebec will have 2Frères
Ontario - Orangeville, Ontario is getting Walk off the Earth
Western Canada - Estevan, Saskatchewan will get Dallas Smith
The four winning communities were selected based on their nomination story, online voting, social rallying, and their unwavering spirit to be named a SiriusXM Music Town. Over 100,000 votes were cast for the top 16 communities, with local officials and community leaders motivating residents to get involved and bring live music to the heart of their town.
The concerts will take place in September and October, with details including date, location and ticket information to be announced in August.

Deals
From time to time, I’ll alert you to any deals involving SiriusXM that you may not be aware of. Considering that year-round, deals are on their plans to try to keep you around to subscribe, we won’t focus on that, but instead, focus on hardware and gadgets involving SiriusXM that you can purchase off from.
A sale for the SiriusXM Roady BT on Amazon.
9to5Toys is alerting folks that Amazon is offering the SiriusXM Roady BT In-Vehicle Satellite Radio Kit for $69.99 shipped, which is down 30% from its normal going rate at Amazon and is such an amazing price to receive one.
Meant for your car, the Roady BT satellite radio installs in your car and connects to your stereo through Bluetooth, 3.5mm aux, or over a built-in FM transmitter. You can choose to mount it via a magnetic vent or dash adapter and there’s an additional mounting system that’s sold separately should you need it. Plus, it comes with a three-month free trial of SiriusXM (not a surprise there) or you could opt for 12 months of the brand’s Platinum Programming Package for $99 (which sounds like a bargain).
Events
Now, we get to the events and there are a lot of them this week so stay tuned and keep on reading for more details.
Måneskin takes over the SiriusXM Small Stage Series.
They won last year’s Eurovision Song Contest for Italy. Now, they’re taking over the world. Literary.
Måneskin is performing for SiriusXM’s Small Stage Series presented by American Express. It will be at The House of X on Thursday, July 28th for SiriusXM subscribers as a special invitation-only concert.
The special concert will feature Måneskin performing their worldwide chart hits, fan favorites, and fast-rising new single “Supermodel”.
Once performed, it will premiere exclusively on the SXM app on Monday, August 1st, and can be heard in its entirety on Alt Nation (Channel 36) on Friday, August 5th at 5:00 p.m. ET (2:00 p.m. PT). Plus, select songs from their concert will air on multiple channels, including SiriusXM Hits 1 (Channel 2), The Pulse (Channel 5), Pop Rocks (Channel 12), and Pandora NOW (Channel 3).
SiriusXM is also running a contest for subscribers and fans to win a chance to attend the performance. For subscribers as of June 23rd, they can enter for a chance to win at siriusxm.com/ManeskinNYC. Fans can follow Alt Nation’s instagram @altnation and look for details on how to win tickets (No Purchase Necessary. Void where prohibited. U.S. only; 21 years of age or older).
After Måneskin, its Pearl Jam.
But once that concert is done, there’s no slowing down the series because this week, SXM also announced that Pearl Jam will do a concert of their own for the series.
Pearl Jam will perform at the historic Apollo Theater in a special invitation-only concert on Saturday, September 10th. This will be the first time the band performs at the theater, and will kick off the band’s fall tour.
The show was originally planned around the release of the group’s critically acclaimed chart-topping eleventh full-length, Gigaton, originally released in 2020, but of course, the pandemic put a pause on that. But now, with most things returning to normal, and in celebration of the album and subsequent tour, the band has released the revamped Gigaton (Tour Edition). It features 11 live songs recorded during the band’s triumphant return to the road in 2021.
The concert will air live nationwide on the band’s exclusive SiriusXM channel, Pearl Jam Radio (Channel 22; not a surprise), which has been around since 2010, where you can also hear Gigaton (Tour Edition).
If you want to attend THIS concert, then go to www.siriusxm.com/PearlJamPR.
